I did it! I signed up!

For years, I was one of those who would say, "I will do a marathon one day." And then laugh into my pint of ice cream, watching yet another round of The Office. Then, a year ago, I met Karen Wieloch. She kept signing up for a new challenge and I kept saying, "Why not?" and signed up with her.

Then, she said it - the M word. Marathon. And I choked on some chocolate chip cookies. For the first time, I backed down.

That night, at home, I realized that I wasn't interested because what does running a gazzilion miles do for me - nothing. But what does running a gazzilion miles do for someone else - give me the motivation to lace up.

I looked at different charities but SALUTE stood out because of the immediate and direct change it has on veterans and their families lives.
