Running is something that didn't become a part of my life until 10 years ago. And it quickly became more than a hobby for me. Even better, my daughters and wife joined me. Running has been something we do on holidays, and we often gift each other races for birthdays. There has been few things that bring me the joy that running with my family does.
This fall, my daughters, Sarah and Heather, and I are running in the Chicago Marathon. This will be the first race all of us are doing together.
Sarah and I are running with SALUTE INC. We chose this charity because of the work they do for veterans and their families. My time with the Navy gave me an appreciation for sacrifices the members of the military and their families make to allow us to live the lives we do.
To participate in this race, Sarah and I need to raise $3,500, and that money will go toward providing a financial safety net for injured veterans and their families through SALUTE INC.
