COVID Update
Just like everyone else, COVID is affecting soldiers, veterans and Salute. My fundraising campaigns have always been about soldiers and veterans that need our support, and they really need it right now. I understand that family budgets are being strained a lot at this moment in time. Maybe you can't give as much as you have in the past. Every dollar counts and every donation helps.
The Chicago Marathon may be canceled, but that will not stop me. The men and women that serve our country in the military show up no matter what. Just like them, I will complete a marathon on October 11 if it is with 40,000 other runners or by myself on the local trails.
The Other Details
2020 will be my seventh year running with Team Salute and supporting our military families. The good work that Salute does mainly through financial assistance to our volunteer military force keeps me coming back year after year.
Regardless of the politics or events that result in our soldiers being deployed all over the world, the bottom line is they have agreed to be ready when called to action without question. They do this while accepting the potential costs, both monetary and otherwise, to themselves and their families. Less than 1% of Americans currently serve in the military while another 7% of living Americans are veterans. All of their service is to the benefit of us remaining 92%. Donating to Salute to help our soldiers keep their lights on, food on their tables, and gas in their tanks is a small way to say thank you for their selfless sacrifices.
